By becoming a member of the American Association of Family & Consumer Sciences (AAFCS), you automatically become a member of your state affiliate (Minnesota Association of Family & Consumer Sciences – MAFCS).  One membership fee covers both your AAFCS and MAFCS membership!

TYPES OF AAFCS MEMBERSHIP

Student Membership- $50.00 (Current students seeking a degree in a postsecondary program. Part-time or full-time students are eligible.)

Professional Membership- $150.00 (Individuals with a degree or professional-level credential in any field of study who support the field of Family & Consumer Sciences.)

Professional Membership 1st Year Introductory Special- $100.00 (First year members can take advantage of the introductory special)

Monthly Professional Membership- $12.50 (Individuals with a degree or professional-level credential in any field of study who support the field of Family & Consumer Sciences. Professional membership rate is broken into 12 payments. Email membership@aafcs.org and request to enroll in this membership option. 1st year introductory special does not apply.)

Emeritus Membership- $100.00 (Individuals with a degree or professional-level credential in any field of study who support the field of Family & Consumer Sciences and are retired, and at least 60 years of age.)

Lifetime Membership- Two different tiers: $2,500 upon retirement or $2,000 upon reaching 50-year membership status. For each of these amounts, $500 is a tax-deductible contribution. For questions or to enroll, call 703-706-4609 or email. 

AAFCS/MAFCS annual membership rates cover one year of membership (exception monthly membership), at which time members will receive a renewal email 90 days prior to the expiration date. Membership status becomes inactive 30 days after the membership expiration date. Membership benefits will not be available when membership status becomes inactive.

MAFCS Member Support- By joining AAFCS/MAFCS you qualify for financial support from MAFCS (Minnesota Association of Family and Consumer Sciences.) Check out these opportunities!

*Students – join your FCS professional association now as a student and start benefitting from the networking with FCS professionals across the state and across the country!  If you need help with paying the student membership fee, apply for a HUGS Scholarship (Help Undergraduate and Graduate Students).  MAFCS accepts applications for HUGS Scholarship once each academic year — applications are due December 1st.

HUGS  (Helping Undergraduate and Graduate Students) –  To support and encourage the MAFCS pre-professional undergraduate and graduate student members.  If you are a professional member, please consider a contribution to sponsor a student who will attend the MAFCS and AAFCS conferences - applications are due December 1st.

 NPS (New Professional Support) - To support and encourage AAFCS/MAFCS members in their first 3 years of membership. If you are a professional member, please consider a contribution to MAFCS to sponsor a New Professional who will attend the MAFCS and AAFCS conferences- applications are due December 1st.
