Friday, February 26th: Farmland
This film will be shown, courtesy of the Beef Council, on Friday night from 9:30-10:30 p.m. Snacks will be available.
Feature length documentary, Farmland, from Oscar®-winning lmmaker, James Moll, follows the next generation of American farmers and ranchers, all in their 20s, in various regions across the US.
Among the six farmers and ranchers featured in the lm is Ryan Veldhuizen, a fourth generation farmer, who is taking over his family’s hog farm in Minnesota with his brother and sister. The farm grows hogs, corn and soybeans, which they use for feed.
The lm, made with generous support from the U.S. Farmers & Ranchers Alliance® (USFRA®), gives viewers a rsthand glimpse into the lives of these young farmers and ranchers, their high-risk/high-reward jobs and their passion for a way of life that, more often than not, is passed down from generation to generation.
Farmland is available on DVD and online viewing services at farmlandfilm.com in full-length and a 44-minute classroom version. Coordinating curriculum will be available later this winter. To schedule a farmer to speak in your classroom, contact Barbara Dodson at 800-711-0747, extension 222.
